Years Vegan: 5
What prompted the lifestyle change? Wellll, was always a heavy eater because I never gained weight. I would try to gain weight by eating like 5 or 6 times a day but, to no avail. So in late 2011 my body started reacting poorly to my usual eats. Here I was, eating oreos & chicken sandwiches and throwing them right back up and the ONLY reason it was so alarming to me is because I had always been called anorexic and I HATED it. In a panic, I began researching the ‘foods’ I was eating and needless to say I was mortified. I dropped all land animals within a like a week or two, it was that serious lol it felt like do or die at that point. It took me like a month to stop eating salmon but once I was done, I was completely done. I haven’t ate an animal since then and I really do enjoy the difference between who I am now and who I used to be.
What changes have you noticed? I’m much more energetic and light on my feet. Eating 5 times a day used to have me asleep for 18 hours. My thinking patterns are way more clear and cohesive. I have more compassion, I feel more connection with others and everything around me. The MOST notable change has definitely with my womb though; I went from painful 6 day periods down to pleasurable 2 day periods with no pain whatsoever. This is the major reason I think every woman should consider a plant based diet, its life changing. Imagine a period without cramps, PMS, bloating, extreme fatigue or crippling back pains! Charbie votes YAAAASSSSS.
